CSI School Project in India

Dr. Daniel Ratnasamy presented an appeal for financial help in the restoration of a primary school located in the southern part of India in the city of Rajapalayam. The school was built forty years ago and had severely deteriorated. First Lutheran contributed $2450 towards this project. The foundation was laid Oct. 15, 2000 by Rev. Thavaraj David Eames. As of the fall of 2002, the first floor had been completed. In April of 2002, another $1000 was dedicated by Global Missions of First Lutheran for the completion of the second floor of the school. The school is run by the church pictured at left. The school has more than 200 students and it is right in the center of town. Most of the students come from Hindu families. At this point only 2-4% of the population in India are Christians.
