6th Grade Servanthood Project

Jesus said, I tell
you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:35-36,
40
On March 5th, First Lutheran’s 6th graders went out into our
community and served as Jesus has called us to do. They helped
by playing and interacting with children in need, folding and
sorting clothes for those who don’t have, creating infant care
packages for single mother’s and unpacking and shelving food for
the hungry.
First Lutheran Church is so proud of young people and thank them
for reaching out and serving in Jesus name.

“I will thank you
in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise
you” Psalm 35:18
My oldest daughter popped out of bed at 6:00
AM on Monday morning – much earlier than usual – and asked, “Is
it time for Vacation Bible School?” She was so excited for all
that lay ahead; she remembered how much fun it had been last
year.
If you’ve never seen what goes on around First Lutheran Church
the week of Vacation Bible School, you’re missing something
truly special. We are exceedingly blessed with a group of people
who put on an incredibly powerful, educational, and
inspirational (not to mention exhausting) week of activity for
the children in our community. As I write, my daughters are
“playing VBS” with their two year old brother – teaching him the
songs and dances. The impact is lasting.
Thank you to all the children’s/youth staff and all the amazing
volunteers who helped pull this off. You’ve taught our children
to “thank the Lord in the great congregation, to give him praise
in the mighty throng.” Well done, good and faithful servants.
