Mission
The mission of First Lutheran’s Children’s Ministry Program is to bring children and their families into a relationship with Jesus and to help them grow in their Christian faith.

Volunteer Ministry Title:
Substitute Sunday/Wednesday School Teacher

Position Purpose
Substitute teachers allow regular Sunday school teachers to take occasional breaks. We desire to have a good supply of substitutes so that no one is overwhelmed by continuous call to substitute. As a substitute, you have the choice to fill an absence – it is never mandatory. Every effort is made to provide advanced notice to prepare.


Ministry Description
1. To love children and model Christ to them
2. To prepare and understand materials for the class you will be leading
3. To be a praying and committed Christian

Timeframe:
The commitment is for one year, each Sunday for one hour.

Skills to Be Used/Developed
You will develop your Bible knowledge and sharpen your creative teaching, storytelling, listening and communication skills

Training/Resources
Attend the fall Teacher’s training workshop

Responsible to
Lead teacher and Director of Children’s Ministry

Benefit to the Volunteer
You will grow in your knowledge of the Bible and receive the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped children grow in their faith. You will have the opportunity to meet and work with other adults in the church.
