On Wednesdays during the school year (September – May), all 3
year olds – 3rd graders are welcome to join together from
6:30pm-7:30pm to grow in their faith! This group provides
interactive ways for kids to become engaged in God’s Word and
helps them to live what they learn each week. Children

Ignite (Grades 4-6)

register your child
Ignite is a mid-week program for 4-6th graders during the school
year. We meet on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-7:30pm and focus on
topical, relevant, and current issues that this age group faces
everyday (i.e. peer pressure, self-esteem, choices, faith and
our relationship with parents, friends and God). Group events
are planned every other month where we will have fun, build
relationships, serve the community and learn more about God and
His Word for us.
Children with Special Needs
We do our best to ensure that each child has the opportunity to
participate as fully as possible in our ministry. We offer
support and encouragement so that all children can come into a
relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in their Christian
faith. To do this we provide special needs buddies to work with
children so that they can be mainstreamed into our Sunday and
Wednesday programs, and we provide sign language interpreters in
worship (Celebration Hall) and at other events.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Vacation Bible School is a fun-filled spiritual adventure for
children (preschool – 6th grade) that provides concentrated
Bible study and encourages real-life application. Through
worship, crafts, snacks, games and drama children can actively
explore the Bible, build relationships, and learn how they can
live God’s truth.
3rd Grade Bible Event - September
When our 3rd grade children were baptized, their parents
promised to “place in their hands the Holy Scriptures.” During
the 3rd Grade Bible event parents fulfill that promise.
To help children prepare for receiving their bible, they and
their parents receive instruction on the Bible, make a Bible
project together, and have fun spending time getting to know
their Bibles.
First Lutheran Church provides new bibles for each third grader.
(New Adventure Bible)
4th Grade Guardian Angel Ministry - October
Our Guardian Angel Program gives our 4th graders the opportunity
to take a baby or young child “under their wing”, pray for that
child’s spiritual growth and remember them on their baptismal
birthday.
The Guardian Angel is present during the baptism and presents
the newly baptized child's parents a baptismal candle. The
guardian Angel, upon accepting the responsibility, agrees to:
1. Be present at the child's baptism
2. Remember the child in their prayers
3. Remembers the child's baptismal birthday with a card or a
call, etc.
5th Grade First Communion:– Holy Week
Do this in remembrance of me………. 5th Graders at First Lutheran
celebrate their First Communion on Maundy Thursday. To prepare
for this event they meet on a Saturday with their parents and
participate in the following:
- Communion Instruction
- Communion Bread Making (Used for Communion Thursday)
- Keepsake Craft
Then on Maundy Thursday the children and their families
participate in a Seder Meal before celebrating First Communion.
6th Grade Servanthood Event - March
"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
In the month of February, First Lutheran 6th Graders go out in
small groups to serve at various sites around the Fargo/Moorhead
community. ." They perform various acts including cooking,
cleaning, and stocking shelves.
Some of the sites where our students have served are Churches
United for the Homeless, The New Life Center, Salvation Army
Thrift Store, The YWCA Shelter, and the Great Plains Food Bank.
This is a life changing opportunity for our 6th graders as they
prepare to go into confirmation. They are living examples of 1
Peter 1:22, "Love one another deeply, from the heart.”

HI-LIFE:
Hi-Life is the catchy name we've given our High Schoolers!
We try and gather weekly to keep focused on the Big Guy and each
other's company. This year we'll be gathering after worship on
Sundays. Sunday afternoons will be a chance for 9th-12th graders
to gather for some delicious food, some amazing fellowship, and
a great bible study. Large-scale events will occur throughout
the year (Homeless & Hungry, Mystery Mission, Ski Trips,
Concerts, all types of wilderness trips...just to name a few)!
