2020 Club

Mission: to provide funds for critical repairs and renovation projects at First Lutheran Church that are beyond the reach of the annual budget.

If you have a passion for First Lutheran church and want to see the building and grounds preserved, here is an opportunity to make a difference!

The First Lutheran Church 2020 Club has been formed to provide the funds necessary to maintain a facility like ours. The goal of the club is to fund 20 major projects by the year 2020. We are blessed to have a beautiful place in which to worship. It would cost at least $15 million to replace. Parts of it are almost 100 years old. Too often major repairs or renovations become necessary which are too large to be included in the annual budget.

Funds donated to the 2020 Club, principal AND interest, will be used exclusively to pay for these projects.

Please consider become a member of the 2020 Club so that first Lutheran Church will continue to be a church that we can all be proud of and serve as an inspiration for all who come here to receive his Word.

Structure
Individuals or groups may join the 2020 Club by donating or pledging funds at one of the following levels:
Bronze - $250 - 499
Silver - $500 - 999
Gold - $1,000 - 4,999
Platinum $5,000 - 9,999
Diamond $10,000 +

Pledges may be paid over a period of years. Memorials and honorariums of any dollar amount are also welcome.

Gifts to the club should be in addition to one's annual giving to the day-to-day operational and mission needs of the church as well as to the First LUtheran Church Foundation.

Governance
Project suggestions may be submitted to the Property management Committee who will in turn make recommendations to the Advisory Board.

Only major projects of $5,000 or more will be considered for funding by the 2020 Club. The advisory board will review all projects and approve those that meet the qualifications. All disbursements must receive final approval by the Church Council.

Members of the Advisory Board are:
Senior Pastor
Property Management Committee Chair
council Representative (elected by Council)
Administrator, ex officio

There is a flyer at the church with more information and pictures of potential projects.

2020 Club News

AMAZING! That’s a word that is often being used to describe the difference created by the new lights in the Celebration Hall and the sanctuary. I agree. But do you know what else is amazing?

It’s AMAZING that we got by with the original wiring in the sanctuary lights for 92 years without having a serious problem. It’s amazing that those lights now put out more than twice the illumination they used to while consuming less than half the electricity.

It’s AMAZING how the usefulness of the Celebration Hall is expanding now that the light is softer and more evenly distributed.

It’s also AMAZING that these projects were completed without impacting the church budget and without a capital campaign or fund raising of any kind.

That illustrates the amazing power of the 2020 Club which was established last year with the goal of funding 20 projects at First Lutheran Church by the year 2020. All the funds contributed will go exclusively toward enhancing our church home and all expenditures must be approved by the Church Council.

Here’s one last AMAZING fact. To date, only 23 individuals and families have joined the 2020 Club. Look what can be accomplished when people with a passion for this place are willing to contribute in this way. Imagine what could be accomplished if just 10 percent of our congregation became 2020 Club members!

There is much more to be done. Please consider becoming a 2020 Club member. Pledges, memorials and contributions of any size are welcome. Contact the church office for more information.
