Children and Family Ministries
We are privileged and overjoyed to welcome your child to the various opportunities for ministry at First Lutheran Church. We are committed to providing a warm and welcoming environment where children and families can grow in their walk with the Lord. We are excited to get to know you and your family!
Flashpoint Fitness
Come for an evening filled with family, faith and fitness! Families with school-aged children are welcome as we warm-up, stretch, exercise and play family-friendly games. No need to register and you're welcome to stop by any week that works for you! Each day we close the hour with a health snack and devotion.
When: Tuesdays and Thursday 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. (starting November 3)

Sunday/Wednesday School - Bible Song
Sunday School begins in September and goes until May.
Preschool is for children aged 3 years to kindergarten. Kids learn about Jesus and how much he loves them.
grades 1 through 5 have a one hour session with 20 minutes of music in a large group, followed by a 4- minute small group devotional/Bible study.
Times for Sunday/Wednesday school are:
6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesdays
9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Sundays
11:00 a.m. - Noon Sundays
Third Grade Bible Event
When our 3rd grade children were baptized, their parents promised to "place in their hands the Holy Scriptures". During the 3rd Grade Bible event, parents fulfill that promise.
To help children prepared for receiving their Bible, they and their parents receive instructions on the Bible, and have fun spending time getting to know their Bibles. This event occurs in September.
4th Grade Guardian Angel Ministry
Our Guardian Angel Program gives our 4th graders the opportunity to take a baby or young child "under their wing", pray for that child's spiritual growth and remember them on their baptismal birthday.
The Guardian Angel is present during the baptism and presents the newly baptized child's parents a baptismal candle. The Guardian Angel, upon accepting the responsibility, agrees to be present at the child's baptism, remember the child in their prayers and remember the child's baptismal birthday with a card or a call.
5th Grade First Communion
"Do this in remembrance of me..."
5th graders at First Lutheran Church celebrate their First Communion on Maundy Thursday. To prepare for this event, they meet on the Saturday before Maundy Thursday with their parents to participate in the following:
1. Receive Communion instructions.
2. Make Communion bread, used for Communion Maundy Thursday.
3. Make a keepsake craft.
On Maundy Thursday, the children and their families participate in a Seder Meal before celebration their First Communion.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Vacation Bible School is a high-energy, outrageously fun-filled, spiritual adventure for boys and girls that provides concentrated Bible learning and encourages real-life application. This occurs in June.
Children's Ministry helps children earn trust and build relationships with kids so that sharing, caring and communication can take place on a more personal and deeper level. When trust has been built, then sharing how your faith in Christ makes a difference in your life will have more meaning.
Children are full members in the Body of Christ!

Stepping Into Parenthood
"Stepping into Parenthood is a new program that will offer supportive guidance to parents as they learn to meet their infant's physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Led by parish nurses, the sessions will be informal and flexible, parents may come and go as desired. Our goal is to respond to the expressed needs of those who come to a session and to provide reliable resurces pertaining to parenting and infant care. Common topics will include infant feeding, colic, sleep patterns, immunizations, developmental milestones and sibling rivalry. Join us on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 10:30 a.m. - noon in the new lounge located within the nursery. Babies are welcome! No registration required.
Bible Song
3 year olds through 5th graders can join us for Bible Song on Sunday mornings at either 9:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m., or Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m.
