What’s the purpose of the nursery?

The purpose of the nursery is to provide safe, loving, fun and comfortable environment for both you and your child. To accomplish this our workers will walk, rock, read, feed, and play with the children to ensure that they are well cared for.
The nursery is made up of two rooms; Infants (0-15 months); Walkers (15 to 36 months).
The nursery has implemented a beeper system that prevents anyone other than the parent from picking up a child. As you sign in your child, you will receive a beeper with your child’s name and number on it and a security tag. Simply return the beeper and security tag to a nursery worker when picking up your child.

What’s expected of you?
We simply ask that you follow the following checklist every time you come to the Nursery.
• You volunteer one Sunday a month
• Diaper bag labeled with child’s name
• Bottles and pacifiers labeled
• Take your child into the appropriate room
• Pick up your security tag and beeper
• Fill out the locator card

General
• Nursery facilities will be open 15 minutes prior to regular church services and approximately 15 minutes after church services.
• A parent should call for the child IMMEDIATELY following the service or function.
• It is suggested that only one parent call for their child. This will save confusion at the classroom door.
• No children above nursery age will be permitted in any Nursery room.
• Children may be brought to the Nursery only if the parent(s) or adult guardian (at least 18 years of age) wish to attend a church service or function.
• Nursery bedding is changed after each use. Beds and toys are wiped down with sterilized solution after use.
• Please do not "look in" on your child. This may cause your child to be unnecessarily upset, as well as cause disruption to the other children.
• All nursery-age children must be signed into their rooms and labeled by their parents or adult guardian. A numbered pager and a security card will be given to each parent. If your child needs your attention, you will be paged. Children will only be released to the parent or guardian possessing a Nursery Security Card. This is for security and protection of your child.
• Parents should indicate on the sign-in sheet where they will be during all classes and services. This will expedite finding you in case of an emergency.
• It is strongly recommended that babies and toddlers not be left for a period longer than 3 hours. Children become very tired and frustrated when left for long periods of time. We want them to have a positive attitude about church and God.

Infant / Crawlers
This room is for children birth to 15 months. Adults care for all babies in this room.
Swings and cribs are used in this room and no snacks are given.
When your child is crawling or walking you may move him/her to the next room.

Walking Infants
This room is for children 15 to 36 months. Adults and teenage apprentices care for the children in this room. We feel that this is a great training tool for the youth of our church.
Snacks are provided.

Health Policies
In order to insure the safety and health of other babies and workers, please refrain from bringing your child if he/she has had any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours: diarrhea, vomiting, fever, rash, open sores, runny nose (anything but clear), etc.
No medication will be given to any child in the Nursery.
Parents should report any allergies to the Nursery Coordinator or Nursery Assistant.
We are striving to make the nursery as healthy and safe as possible. Some ways we are doing this are by using rubber gloves for diaper changes, parent beepers, security tags, periodic CPR classes.
If you have any questions, problems, or suggestions, please feel free to call the church office.

Clothing, Etc.
• Diaper bags, clothing, and other personal items MUST BE LABELED with the child’s full name. Please include a change of clothing and an empty plastic bag in the diaper bag for wet or soiled clothing.
• It is suggested that your child be dressed in comfortable loose-fitting, machine washable clothing that will not restrict free movement.
• Disposable diapers are preferred in all rooms.
• Nursery-age children undergoing toilet training should have with them a change of clothing in a labeled bag.
• Do not allow your child to bring personal toys or other possessions unless it is a “security” item (pacifier, blanket, etc.).

Food
• Under normal circumstances, nursery-age children are not to be fed any meals during any church service or function. For safety reasons, the Nursery Staff cannot mix formula for infants.
• If your child has a food allergy or a special need related to food, please notify the Nursery Coordinator or Nursery Assistant..
• Please refrain from giving your child gum or candy before coming to the nursery. It can be dangerous, and is very messy.
