Children and Family Ministries

Welcome to Children’s Ministry!

We are looking forward to getting to know you and have you as a part of our family! Children’s Ministry is for the faith education of our kids ages 3 through 5th grade. Classes are on Sundays at 10 a.m. (NEW this year) or Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Classes are age-appropriate and will keep your child engaged and learning about God’s love, faithfulness and provision in his or her life.

What Will We Be Learning?

This year, the congregation will gather together around The Story, and that includes the children as well. Each week, we will focus on one chapter, which consists largely of scripture but is fashioned in such a way that the journey through God’s book is  seamless. The kid’s edition of The Story includes a beautifully illustrated Bible, skits, crafts and worksheets for study and discussion. Music will also be a large part of their learning. Your child will learn the greatest—and most important—story ever told.

How Are Classes Structured?

All children will have a one-hour session with an introduction to the story and music in a large group, followed by small group prayer/discussion/fun.

A typical hour session looks like this:

10:05-10:15 a.m. Sun. / 6-6:05 p.m. Wed.

Meet your teacher in your classroom for opening prayer and attendance. All classrooms on the lower level

What is Required for Parents?

In the baptismal vows, you made the promise to faithfully bring your child to God’s house for worship, place the Bible in his or her hands, and provide instruction in the Christian faith. Children’s Ministry is an important step in fulfilling those promises. It is our expectation that you will:

Attend Sunday Worship with your child. Worship services are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. in both the Sanctuary and Celebration Center. While this may seem difficult at first, we believe that children are a vital part of the faith community and should experience praise and learning in the larger setting. All members of the family benefit from worshiping together. If needed, the nursery is available for children ages 3 and younger.

Keep the Story consistent by making Sunday or Wednesday School an important part of your week. If a week is missed, the materials will be available online so your child won’t miss any part of The Story.

Say yes to helping. We are in need of leaders and helpers. Those who have helped say they get more out of it than the kids do! Please pray about how you can participate in your child’s faith formation. You will be getting called. Thanks for saying, “Yes.”

Children’s Choir

Children in grades one through five are encouraged to join together in song! Choir shapes a child’s entire spiritual life. They learn scripture because they sing it. Professional music educator, Kathy Ferreira, conducts and Michael Olson is the accompanist. Meets every Wednesday from 5:30-6 p.m. in the choir room
