Outreach Ministries

First Lutheran Church is continually involved in a variety of outreach ministries and you become a part of them too. We have been richly blessed, and as the Bible says, "...from everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required." Luke 12:48

Mexico Mission Trip

Thanks be to God for this awesome team that God has called forth to do mission work in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Twenty-eight of us will be in the village of X-Pom from February 23 - March 4. For the first time ever we are returning to the same village as last year so that we can finish the concrete block church that we started last year, but putting on a concrete roof.

This will also serve as the village’s primary hurricane shelter. X-Pom is a remote village that has no running water nor electricity. We have a tremendously diverse group, 20+ students representing North High, South High, Moorhead High, and Oak Grove High, MSUM, and Concordia. We are ages 16 to over 60! We will be collecting the following items to bring as donations: Toothpaste, brushes, shampoos, soaps, notebooks, crayons, pens, pencils, very small toys. We are also seeking financial sponsors who will commit to sponsoring and praying for individual kids and leaders. See Rollie if interested. Please begin praying for our team and ministry!

2012 Vision Slovakia Update

For the last several years First Lutheran Church members have been living out their faith in Martin and Pribovce, Slovakia. Next year’s mission trip will have us working with elementary school students, including a day camp, at the Centre for Christian Education in Martin, as well as assisting with Vacation Bible School, and English teaching in Probovce. There is also the opportunity for a few individuals to do some construction/repair work on the school property.

Next summer’s mission trip has been tentatively scheduled for June 21 - July 10, 2012. Our goal at First Lutheran is to provide approximately nine volunteers (plus a like number who will be representing Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington, ND) to carry out these efforts.
