Holy Communion
Ministry
We have a very meaningful ministry here at First Lutheran Church
which involves visiting shut-ins and bringing Holy Communion to
them. You are invited to be a part of this great ministry. A
class taught by Pastor Dale Vitalis and Parish Nurse Marlene
Saar will be offered on Sunday, March 8 at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m.
in the chapel. These are identical meetings. Please join us and
help bring Jesus to our homebound.
Call Ruth Hanson, Parish Nurse Coordinator with any questions
at 235-7389.
Lord God, you call us to work in your vineyard and leave no one standing idle. Set us to our tasks in the work of your kingdom, and help us to order our lives by your wisdom; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Volunteer
Opportunities Outside First Lutheran Church
Listed
below are some of the ways you can make a difference by volunteering
and serving others in the community in which you live.
Read Luke 10:25-37, the story of the Good Samaritan, then, "... go and do
likewise."
2. HORACE MANN... needs adult readers during March and
April.
The staff of Horace Mann kindly invites any adult who likes to
read to children to know they are invited to do so. "Read
Aloud" places you in a classroom of your choice with a captive
audience of children eager to hear your story (ies). You
choose the day and time and your own stories or have the
Horace Mann staff choose them for you. One-half hour is the
suggested time.
Please contact Mary Jean Dehne at 235-4567, ext 121 or
mjdehne@flcfargo.org
to partner with our "Read Aloud" ministry.
3. SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS
Did you know that First Lutheran provides a hot supper to the
guests at the Scandia Hotel once a month? People from all over
the upper midwest have enjoyed a free, hot meal every second
Monday of the month because of the generosity of strangers. We
have served on average 25 people a month for more than a year.
Thank you to all who have given to this ministry!
Norma Tessmer is the leader of this ministry and would greatly
appreciate your help in serving our neighbors. Please call her
at 232-6959 or email her at
njtessmer@yhr.com to
donate food or to help serve the meal. People you may never meet
are touched by your generosity. Thank you!
Financial donations are also received to purchase food. Checks
can be made out to First Lutheran, marked for Scandia Suppers.
We thank you.
4. HEY MOMS! Before you completely fill up your fall
schedule with all those “good” things, consider the “best”
thing that you can do for your children… PRAY! Mom In Touch
International (MITI) is an interdenominational organization of
mothers meeting one hour
each week to pray for their children and the schools they
attend. To learn more about this vital ministry contact Penny
Carlson at 293-5197 or visit the MITI website:
www.MomsInTouch.org.
5. PUT YOUR FAITH IN ACTION! The Companionship Program,
a program of The ARC
of Cass County, is recruiting volunteers interested in being a
companion for a person with a
developmental disability. The goal is to maintain a
relationship while encouraging the
emotional and social growth needed to develop future relationships. If interested please
contact: Penny Carlson at 293-5197 or
pennycarlson@cableone.net.
Prayer Shawl Ministry:
Are you looking for a ministry of prayer and care for those in
great need? The Prayer Shawl Ministry may be a way for you,
your church, or your community to reach out with love and care
to others who are hurting. Hundreds of people from churches
around the United States are being comforted by the prayer
shawls. People have been combining prayer and knitting for the
ministry of others for many years. We are looking for people
who are willing to knit/crochet these shawls. Patterns will be
provided and yarn if necessary. Our intent is to give one to
each person who is ill or shut-in. For further information on
this project please contact Loretta, Parish Nurse at 235-4567
ext: 143 for further information.
