Traditional Worship Services
Sanctuary
Sunday at 8:00, 9:30 & 11:00am

There are three traditional worship services in the sanctuary each Sunday morning.  The 8:00 service is a smaller service and has a more intimate feel.  The 9:30 service often has the Cathedral Choir singing for worship.  At the 11:00 service on the first Sunday of the month, the Cathedral Choir also sings for that worship.  Every Sunday has a cantor who sings portions of the liturgy in alternation with the congregation.  Most Sundays will have a vocalist or instrumentalist providing special music while the offering is being received.

There is a liturgy provided in the Lutheran Book of Worship which guides our morning worship services.  Four scripture readings and a sermon form the basis of the Word each week.  Holy Communion is offered at all services on the first Sunday of each month, and after each service in the chapel on the other Sundays of the month.

The organ is the main musical instrument in the sanctuary, while the piano is used to accompany some of the choir anthems plus vocalists and instrumentalists.  There is a handbell choir called Heavenly Bells which plays usually once a month during the school year, as does the First Lutheran Chamber Orchestra.   Besides the Cathedral Choir, there is also a Men's Choir and a Women's Choir.

Celebration Worship Services
Celebration Center
Sunday at 9:30 & 11:00am

Celebration worship is a high energy, eclectic and  ecumenical contemporary worship.
We blend a strong mixture of old favorites with cutting edge new music that is lyrically relevent along with tunes that are singable to the average person. Celebration  worship is purposefully non-liturgical, yet rooted in Lutheran tradition of "grace through faith" theology.  Celebration worship is intentionally participatory, and not performance oriented, and involves a wide variety of muscians and singers of all abilitites who are all volunteers.   We welcome and encourage believers of all faith backgrounds who desire to be fed, nurtured, empowered and encouraged in their own Christian faith journey. Our driving force in Celebration Worship is to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and help them to grow in their Christian Faith.

U-Night All-City Gathering Worship
U-Night is an ecumenical worship for people of all ages.  Our gatherings happen off-site at Gio’s Pizzeria in Moorhead (123 21st St S) the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month…see the FLC calendar for exact dates.

U-Night’s worship is an emergent worship that incorporates different aspects of praising Christ.  Laughter, joy, and celebration are pillars during this worship.  As we begin to go deeper, a personal faith story is shared (and this proves to be deeply powerful and poignant).  From there, the group continues worship through songs and praise.  The other speaker during the U-Night gatherings is a pastor/youth director from the community.  That individual takes advantage of this time and uses it as a teaching moment utilizing scripture and the theme for the evening.  The house band (FLC’s own Saving Reign) wraps up the evening with a couple more songs and communion.

U-Night doesn’t feel like a Sunday morning.  The best way to explain it is to come and see.  We worship together at 7pm on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month.  Also, since we’re at a pizzeria, you can join us for dinner beginning at 5:30pm.

More and more people are finding U-Night to be a Christ-filled experience.  Please consider joining us for our next worship gathering!
