“Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth.” -Psalm 86:11

St. Augustine once said, Solvitur Ambulando  — “It is solved by walking!” Indeed, there are challenges in faith and in life that can only be understood through action and experience. The simple act of walking, putting one foot in front of the other, often leads us into deeper reflection on the complexities we face.

In the season of Lent, we walk with Jesus toward the cross — responding to His extraordinary love by loving God and loving others. It’s a journey we take together, supported by community and guided by faith.

On Wednesday evenings, we’ll hear from former First Lutheran Church pastors, who have been on the walk with us. Pastor Marty, along with other small group leaders across the congregation, will facilitate a 5-week study on The Walk by Adam Hamilton, exploring five essential spiritual practices of the Christian life: worship and prayer, study of scripture, service, giving, and sharing our faith.

Come walk with us this Lent — as we follow the Jesus Way, stepping toward the promise of Easter hope.

This Lent, First Lutheran is joining Christians around the world in the Forty for Forty Challenge — committing to daily physical activity while deepening faith through scripture and reflection.

We invite you to walk with Jesus — physically and spiritually — through the 40 days of Lent. Walk on your own or grab a friend. Head outside or walk laps inside — our FLC gym is open! To accompany your steps, we’ve created a 40-day devotional, Walking Together, featuring reflections from former FLC pastors and daily scripture readings to guide your journey.

Whether you’re walking every day or simply taking intentional moments to pause and reflect, this devotional is designed to walk with you.

Above and Beyond Giving
As we walk through this season together, we also ask: How will we, as a church, walk with the next generation of God’s faithful people?
This Lent, consider a special $40 gift to the NextGen Endowment Fund — our investment in the future of faith.
