“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6

Seven hundred years before Christ was born, the prophet Isaiah foretold of his coming. He described the future Messiah by using four names: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. These names of Jesus in Isaiah 9:6 are not just poetic; they are personal. Isaiah gives us a way to relate to Jesus by describing not only who he is but what he does for us. These names of Jesus are titles that shape our testimony as well as characteristics of the God that we can count on forever.

In the season of Advent, as we once again wait with expectation for the coming of God in flesh, we will explore what it means to call Jesus by name and what those names mean for you. He is your wisdom and strength, your leader, protector, your peace.

Above and Beyond Giving for Advent

Advent reminds us that we are hungry for Jesus — the Bread of Life — and He calls us to feed others in His name. Help us go above and beyond to feed our neighbors both near and far.

Our goal is to raise $8,000

$4,000 Globally – to support the Feed My Starving Children FargoPack 2026. This will help fund 400 boxes — 86,400 meals — bringing life-saving food to children around the world who face daily hunger.
$4,000 Locally
– to support the Emergency Food Pantry, ensuring that families in our own community have food on the table.

Ways to give:

  • Online: follow this link
  • In-person: at First Lutheran’s Welcome Desk. Please specify that your gift goes to the 2025 Advent Offering.

Thank you for your generosity!
