Traditionally called "Sunday School," at First Lutheran we use the moniker "Kids at First" for our Christian Education program for kids age 3 to 4th grade. Here your kids can come and talk with caring adults about the stories of the Christian faith. Using the rotational model of learning, children participate in and are exposed to the same story through art, video, drama, and music.

The curriculum is SPARKS Rotational Model of Learning. The Bible story remains the same for four weeks, but children encounter it in different ways through art, video, drama and music workshops. Repetition is the key and the more ways children explore a story or concept, the more reinforced it becomes in their memories. The variety of experiences keeps interest high and each workshop is led by amazing Workshop Leaders and Shepherds who gear each lesson to the particular age group. The 1st through 4th graders gather in their classrooms for attendance before going to their rotation location.

The preschool and kindergarten Kids at First kids experience the same rotational model of learning, but within their classrooms on the third floor. After the kids gather in the classroom, they go to music, where they celebrate birthdays and collect offering. Then their teachers lead them back to the classroom to experience the lesson of the day.
