God's Great Gifts

by Katie Kringstad

Many times, in my life I have prayed so hard for something to happen and have had my prayers go seemingly unanswered. Places I thought our family was going to move to over the years and then things falling apart and not happening the way I wanted them to. Feelings of being lost and not knowing what the future holds can be hard. Yet, now years later looking back, I am so happy and grateful that God did not answer my prayers the way I wanted him to because God had something so much bigger and greater in mind for me and my family.

I am so happy and excited to be exactly where I am right now and I would not be where I am right now if God had given me everything I thought I wanted. God knows what God is doing and yet trust can be hard. My favorite verse in the Bible is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. Submit to Him in all your ways and He will make your paths straight.” One reason this is my favorite verse is because it’s something I struggle with. Verses to keep in your mind and heart are many times the ones that we need to hear the most, the ones that bring us comfort in a world of uncertainty and stress.

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart because God does care for you and has a future plan for you. Do not lean on your own understanding because we only have a one-dimensional view of our lives and many times to us life just doesn’t make sense, but to God who sees all and knows all it does and God understands. In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your path straight.

Take time to think and wonder in your decisions, if you are submitting to God’s will or going with your own will. Most of the time going with our own will takes us down a path that is steep with winding turns and danger. By submitting to God’s will and God’s way we will stay on a straight path that brings us to the future that God has planned for our lives.

If you are in a time right now where you are feeling that God is not listening and does not hear your prayers, just remember that God may have a bigger and better plan for you just ahead.

Have a blessed week,
