"Yes" and "Amen"

by Michael Olson

I will look with favor upon you and make you fruitful and multiply you; and I will maintain my covenant with you.
Leviticus 26:9

In Jesus Christ every one of God's promises is a "Yes." For this reason, it is through him that we say the "Amen," to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20

Reread the text from 2 Corinthians for today and you will see that every one of God's promises is a "Yes" which is very encouraging as we go forward in life.

Yes, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Yes, I am the Good Shepherd, who lays down his life for the sheep.

Yes, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.

Yes, I will be with those families who have lost loved ones to death in the past weeks and months.

Yes, I will be with you as you travel on this Fourth of July weekend and will protect your activities and recreation.

Yes, I will be with you as you return to in-person worship on Sunday morning for the first time in a mighty long time! I will keep you safe, and will bless your homecoming.

Yes, I will protect you and your loved ones from the coronavirus pandemic, keeping you safe as you go to the grocery store and as you go out to eat in a restaurant.

Yes, I will bless those who have been married recently and those who will be getting married yet this summer and into the autumn months.

Help us to know that you love us and care for us and will never forsake us and will always be with us. God will see us through. Yes, indeed, God will see us through this pandemic.

Amen! Let it be so, Lord. Let it be so.
