God is Love

by Michael Olson

God, your steadfast love is better than life.
Psalm 63:3

So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.
God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.

I John 4:16

What the world needs now is love, sweet love; it's the only thing that there's just too little of...

In spite of absolutely everything that is going on these days, we need a lot of love FOR one another and FROM one another. We know that God IS love, and that is indeed comforting to know during these uncertain times.

Thanksgiving Day is right around the corner. This is the holiday for food, family, and football. We are being told to limit our social gatherings, even around the Thanksgiving table. I totally "get it" but it's going to be a difficult holiday for many people.

Love one another as I have loved you.

Back in the day, the slogan for AT&T was very simply -- reach out and touch someone. We would all love to reach out and touch many people right now, but we're not supposed to do so. We're going to have to love "from a distance" and see how that works out for everyone.

I think of all the people who have lost loved ones over the past several months who have not been able to properly say goodbye to their relatives and dear friends. God is love, and he cares for his children each and every day.

During the next six weeks, many holiday celebrations will be taking place -- and quite a few of those will look quite different from usual. Through it all, God IS love and God will always be love in our lives.

Love, love, love, that's what it's all about.
For God loves us, we love each other,
Mother, father, sister, brother,
Everybody sing and shout,
'Cause that's what it's all about,
it's about love, love, love, it's about love, love, love.

That little ditty from my youth just came floating back into my mind...

God IS love, and that simple yet profound truth will carry me through each and every day!!
